A little about myself

I am a product designer with a BSc in Interaction Design (formerly Digital Media Design) from the University of Limerick. My interests lie in all things digital product design and I hope to build strong digital experiences for consumers throughout my career. In my spare time I like to obsess about all things music related. I am currently a resident DJ for a local limerick based collective. I also love to produce electronic music and I hope to release such music online in the near future.

My Design Process

My design process involves the Double Diamond approach to user centred design. The diagram on the right is a visualization of the creative approach I use when solving user problems and building digital products.

My Design Skills

My focus is on building great digital products with the user at the forefront. As a designer, I believe my biggest strengths are being eager to learn new things and listening intently to users needs. Some of my skills can be seen on the right here.

Since you took time out of your day to look through my portfolio, Id like to give back a little. Heres a list of things from the digital design world that I have been enjoying lately and might be of value to you!

Notion (Software)

Notion is described as an all in one note taking and collaborative tool. I am in love with this application, I would describe it as Evernote on steroids. I use it for everything in my life these days, organising trips, to-do lists, bookmarking. It is based on the idea of blocks and allows you to build your own layouts and tools within the software itself, from excel sheets, to kanbans to calendars. Honestly cannot praise this tool enough.

Product Breakfast Club
(Podcast)

The Product Breakfast Club is a podcast hosted by Jonathon Courtney from AJ & Smart, a Berlin based design studio along with Jake Knapp who is a former Google designer and the author of The Design Sprint, a well known product design strategy book. It talks all things digital and product design, how products are built, how design teams work and how to be a better designer. It can be slightly quirky but extremely insightful from some of the worlds best.

Here is a link to an episode about how LEGO use Design Sprints in their large scale corporation.

Oak
(Mobile Application)

Oak is a free app for breathing exercises and guided mediation. It is eloquently designed and is simple to use. It is a great alternative to paid meditation apps like Headspace. Plus it is an excellent habit to start.

Page Flows
(Website)

Page Flows is a library of photos and videos of popular digital products such as mobile apps and websites showing the user flow of the product. If I am ever stuck on a design problem or lacking inspiration I can come here and see what ways top products are being built. I highly recommend this website to any digital designer.
